Non-Immigrant Visas
Government Travel (A & G Visas)
Persons traveling to the US on official government business may not apply directly at the Embassy for a visa. All visa applications for official travel must go through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Any person going to the United States on official government business must obtain an official (A or G) visa before traveling. Official travel includes anyone assigned to a Gabonese mission in Washington, DC, or New York, as well as any travel by persons representing the government on a temporary official mission to the U.S. paid for by the Government of Gabon. Gabonese citizens hired to work directly for certain international organizations in the United States are eligible for G visas.
All A and G visas must be processed through the Gabonese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Applicants may not apply directly at the Embassy, but should be prepared to bring the following documents to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs:
A Gabonese diplomatic or official passport valid for at least six months from the date of planned entry into the US;
A completed and signed application form DS-156 and one recent (37mm X 37mm) full-face photograph;
Official government travel orders or, "Ordre de Mission", from the Government ministry or agency paying for the trip stating the full reason for travel (reason must state more than "official mission");
Documentation from the agency or organization in the United States describing the program or event to be attended (when appropriate).
Applications delivered on Tuesdays and Thursdays mornings will be available for pick-up no later than the following morning. The Consular Section will consider emergency applications for official travel on a case-by-case basis.
No fees are charged for official visas.
Applicants should make sure to complete every question on the DS-156 application and sign the form. Incomplete applications cannot be processed and will be returned.
The Embassy may request to interview individual diplomatic or official applicants on a case-by-case basis to determine their eligibility for that visa category.
