General William Ward Commander of AFRICOM visits Gabon

General William E. "Kip" Ward, Commander of the newly-created United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), made and official visit to Gabon December 5-6, 2007. He met with Gabonese President El Hadj Omar Bongo Ondimba and other senior Gabonese officials.(more)

American Jazz Trio Commemorates MLK 

APEX with local musicians.

American jazz trio, APEX, commemorated the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. during a four day visit to Gabon.  With Joan Minor as vocalist, Ray Blue on saxaphone and Bob Sardo on piano, the group performed two concerts, conducted a workshop with local musicians and gave interviews on radio and TV.  Throughout their stay the trio stressed how liberty and freedom of expression are essential to jazz.
