U.S. Navy in the Gulf of Guinea

The Security Cooperation Officer at Embassy Libreville, Commander Sarah Dachos,  recently participated in an international planning conference in Naples, Italy, with the Gabonese Navy.  The name given to the event "Obangame" means "together" and was chosen to highlight the cooperative aspects of the partnership.  The Gabonese, Cameroonians, and Equatorial Guineans are all working together with the US Navy to improve maritime security capabilities in the Gulf of Guinea.

Daniel Pearl is celebrated in Gabon

Ambassador Reddick and her Public Diplomacy staff put together a memorable commemoration for the Daniel Pearl World Music Days. Daniel Pearl's life brutally came to an end in 2002 at the hand of terrorists in Pakistan. The former journalist was passionate about music, cultural diversity and tolerance. He believed in harmony for humanity and music being a universal language. The Embassy organized television programs, movie projections and concerts for music lovers in Gabon. You can read more about the events here.
